The Process

From photo to part
in 3 steps

No CAD, no engineering degree, no specialized equipment. Just your smartphone and the broken part.

Start with a Photo

Step 1

Snap a photo of the broken part

Take 1–3 photos of the broken or missing part from different angles. Your phone camera is all you need — no special lighting, no tripod.

The more angles and clarity, the better the AI can model the geometry. Front, side, and 45° diagonal views work well for most parts.

Include a reference object (credit card, coin, or ruler) for accurate scale
JPG or PNG, up to 10MB each, maximum 3 photos per request
If the part is missing entirely, photograph where it should fit

1–3 photos from different angles give AI enough data to model the part
Step 2

AI analyzes dimensions and generates the design

Once photos are submitted, our AI goes to work. It identifies the part type, extracts geometric dimensions from your photos, and checks manufacturability against our process constraints.

Using the reference object as a calibration anchor, the AI infers real-world dimensions — length, width, height, diameter, wall thickness — without any manual measurement input required.

FAQ

Common questions

What kinds of parts can Repliform manufacture?

Repliform handles small-to-medium mechanical and structural parts: knobs, handles, brackets, mounts, caps, covers, flat plates, enclosures, dividers, and similar components. If the part can be photographed and dimensioned, we can likely manufacture it. Parts with complex internal channels, very tight tolerances (<0.1mm), or specialized surface finishes may require manual review.

How accurate is dimension extraction from a photo?

With a reference object in the frame (credit card, coin, ruler), our AI typically achieves dimensional accuracy within 2–5% for simple prismatic geometry. For complex shapes we may follow up to confirm critical dimensions before cutting material. You always review the dimensions in your quote before approving.

Do I need to know CAD or engineering to use Repliform?

No. Repliform is designed for anyone with a broken part and a smartphone. You don't need CAD files, engineering drawings, or technical knowledge. The AI handles geometry extraction and design generation. Your job is: take photos, describe what broke, and approve the quote.

How long does it take to get a manufactured replacement part?

Quote generation happens in minutes after photo submission. Manufacturing and shipping typically takes 3–10 business days depending on complexity and process: FDM 3D printing is usually 3–7 days, CNC machining 5–10 business days. Lead times are shown in your quote before you commit.

What if the AI gets the dimensions wrong?

You review all extracted dimensions in your quote before approving anything. If the dimensions look off, add a note in your submission describing the correct measurements. We'll adjust before manufacturing. For high-precision applications, we recommend measuring the part manually and entering dimensions in the submission form.

How much does it cost to get a replacement part made?

Submitting a request is free. You receive an instant quote showing the estimated total, manufacturing process, material, and lead time. Simple 3D printed parts often start under $25 including shipping. CNC metal parts vary by size and complexity. You only pay when you explicitly approve the quote.
